George Malachowski, Ph.D., Technical Consultant George received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics, a master’s of science in nuclear physics, and a Ph.D. in bio-engineering from Australia's University of Melbourne. George continued his education and research through a Wellcome Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Cambridge University. George founded his first company more than 25 years ago and developed the seed technology for Cicero data acquisition products. In 1988, George founded Cytomation, Inc. overseeing the development of the MoFlo high-speed cell sorter and CyAn high-speed cell analyzer. His technical specialties include mathematical algorithm design and development, real-time data acquisition and control, manufacturing process controls, and statistical quality assurance systems. George is inventor of three patents in the area of algorithms, pulse processing and hardware. He is also the author of numerous papers and peer reviewed publications in the areas of mathematics, physics and bio-engineering. Michael H. Fox, Ph.D., Technical Consultant Dr. Fox received his BS in physics at McPherson College, an MS in physics and a Ph.D. in bio-physics from Kansas State University. He continued his education and research through Post-Doctoral studies in Radiation Biology at Colorado State University. Dr. Fox was an Assistant Professor at McPherson College in physics for one year, and spent the rest of his career since 1977 at Colorado State University, where he is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences. He developed an interdisciplinary graduate degree program in Cell and Molecular Biology at CSU and was the Chair from 1990-2005, building the program to an elite graduate program at CSU with over 60 graduate students and 60 interdisciplinary faculty. He has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses in Radiation Biology, Advanced Cell Biology, and Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting. He has been the major advisor for 6 MS and 11 PhD students. Dr. Fox has 54 peer-reviewed publications and 5 book chapters. He has extensive experience and specialties in Flow Cytometry applications and instrumentation. His principal research interests have focused on applying flow cytometry methods to study cell and molecular biology to solve problems related to Cancer Biology. He has done significant research on the cell cycle, heat shock proteins, membrane function, intracellular ions, apoptosis, sperm physiology and sexing, and mutagenesis. Dr. Fox founded Cytomation GTX, Inc. in 2000, based on his research developing a novel genotoxicity assay and obtained SBIR Phase I and Phase II funding.
